Improving the Safety & Well-Being of Children In the State of Maine
According to the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) and the Children’s Justice Act (CJA), three federally mandated groups of professionals and private citizens were formed to explore the work of Maine’s child welfare system. These groups, called Citizen Review Panels, are charged with determining whether state and local agencies are effectively meeting the safety, permanency, and well-being needs of children and families throughout the state.
